Art Exhibition

Art Exhibition: A Softer Cadence by Deirdre Kearney

The seventh edition of the Italian Fusion Festival will feature a solo art exhibition by renowned Irish visual artist Deirdre Kearney. Titled “A Softer Cadence”, this captivating exhibition will be displayed during the festival at the United Arts Club. The exhibition will be open throughout the festival evening, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in Deirdre Kearney’s evocative visual narratives while enjoying the vibrant lineup of musical performances, Italian food, Aperol Spritz, and more.

Deirdre Kearney, based in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, brings a unique perspective to her work. She blends her background in law and art to explore the concept of truth. After graduating with a Master’s in Art in the Contemporary World from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin in 2015, Deirdre embarked on an illustrious artistic journey.

Her work has been widely recognized, from her residencies under the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) scheme to her solo exhibitions and participation in prestigious group shows. In 2012, her series *The Shipwright’s Daughter* was showcased at the Titanic Centre in Belfast as part of the Titanic Exhibition.

Deirdre’s paintings, featured in private and public collections worldwide, challenge the legitimacy of received truths, capturing the delicate interplay between memory, perception, and visual distortion. This solo exhibition promises an evocative journey through Deirdre’s artistic exploration. Each piece traces a line from witnessing to memory, offering viewers a contemplative experience that invites introspection and dialogue.

IIC Dublino

Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Partner of the Italian Fusion Festival 2024

Currently active across the major cities of the five continents, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) network is the fundamental reference point for the Italian community abroad and the centre of the growing demand for Italian culture worldwide.

The network offers courses, operating libraries, and educational and editorial material that can help people discover and learn more about the Italian language and culture.

The Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Ireland was established in 1954 to foster and increase the existing cultural links between Ireland and Italy through joint initiatives in education, culture, and science. It is situated in an early nineteenth-century Georgian building in the centre of Dublin, in Fitzwilliam Square, architecturally one of the city’s most ‘historic’ and interesting squares, facing a beautiful private park.

The IIC Dublin hosts cultural events such as seminars, conferences, book presentations, exhibitions, concerts, and theatre and film screenings every week. The full programme of events can be found on iicdublino.esteri.it/iic_dublino/en/gli_eventi/

Italian language courses at the IIC resumed in September. Through their Italian classes, students can develop listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills in a structured and gradual manner with the help of highly qualified native speakers.
